ethylene glycol (EG), is a colorless, odorless, and sweet viscous liquid at room temperature. Ethylene glycol, as an important organic raw material in the petrochemical industry, is mainly used in the production of polyester fibers, unsaturated polyester resins, antifreeze agents, lubricants, plasticizers, and explosives. In addition, it can also be used in industries such as coatings, photographic developing solutions, brake fluids, and inks, with a wide range of applications. From a global perspective, polyester products account for over 90% of ethylene glycol consumption, and in China, over 74% of ethylene glycol is used to produce polyester fibers such as polyester.
